Monday, April 14th, 2008

I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.5. It looks and very different. Maybe now I’ll change my layout to reflect the new features. We’ll see when I get some free time. I’ve been busy with my other website. ChicagoSportsTalk.com

New Photo Album

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

I think I finally decided on a new photo album. I have been having some problems with Coppermine getting a lot of spam, plus I wanted to have it integrated with WordPress. The plugin that I chose is Flickr Photo Album. What I like is that it integrates with Flickr, so now I have the power of flickr for my photo organization. I can also insert pictures from flickr in my posts!

Here is my flickr page where you could download a larger version of all my pictures.

You could also go here for the old photo album until I take it offline.

Bobby Banana

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

I am posting this from Google’s Docs & Spreadsheets , I wanted to test it out. I got this picture from my Uncle Jim. I guess it reminds him of my brother, Bob. I put it in the pictures section.

**Ok, so after I posted it from google, there was no title on the post. I’ll look into that and try it again later. Otherwise it’s pretty cool, Google is trying to take over the world.

Webcam Added

Saturday, March 25th, 2006

I decided to add a webcam in the office. Now if I will be in the office for any length of time you would see some action on it. I’m thinking of setting up one of the other computers as a “testing/webcam” computer. Then, at least if I’m not in the office you could see two angle’s of Doug.

I used the script:

To the right of the main page I changed size so there is a thumbnail view of the webcam and then if you click on it there is a larger view on a seperate page. Sorry Jen not big enough to see Doug’s letters on Literati but i’m working on it.

Click here to view the webcam.

Video Plugin for WordPress

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

I just added a video blogger plugin aka Vlogger. It was easy to setup. I had a little problem because it wasn’t showing up in the post. I found out it was conflicting with another plugin that I had installed but wasn’t using. Once I found that out I uninstalled the plugin and it worked. Here is a sample of the plugin. The New timfitz.net!!

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

After many hours of playing with php, css, WordPress and Coppermine photo gallery. I think i finally got my website looking how I want it to. My biggest problem was with the upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4 of my photo gallery. The upgrade didn’t install right and my template wasn’t compatible with the newer version. I was able to get it up and running but I was still having some problems with the admin section. I decided that was good enough for the time being, so I put off the correct fix for awhile. Finally I put my lazyness aside and fixed the problem.

I kept the same header of my ceiling that I have been using, but added a little pizazz. I thought myself the very basics of flash animation so I decided to make a little flash header that is the same for the front page and the photo gallery. I plan to animate it a little more in the distant future, but right now it serves it’s purpose.

For now I’m happy with the layout of the pages, I would like to change the color scheme sometime in the near future, but we’ll see how my time is.

New Webpages

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006

Hi everyone! I’m in the process of updating my web pages, so I apologize for them looking very generic right now. I am using the standard templates. For my main page I decided to switch over to WordPress after Doug talked me into it. So far I like it and it was relatively painless unlike the upgrade from hell with my pictures link that is using Coppermine photo gallery.

I’m not saying that Coppermine is a bad product. I actually like it a lot, but I took the lazy way to upgrade to the new version. I used ‘fantastico’ which is a nice program made by my hosting company that installs scripts for you. I used it once before when I wasn’t very familiar with mysql and then I decided to use it for the upgrade, big mistake. Once I installed it I noticed that the template that I made wasn’t compatible, also it wouldn’t let me log in. I had to play with phpMyAdmin to get it to work again. I’m still having a few issues but I will work those out over time.
